TECHNICIAN

An automotive technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains vehicles—including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems—using computerized tools to ensure optimal performance and safety. They perform routine maintenance like oil changes and brake repairs, test-drive vehicles, and communicate directly with customers regarding repair needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostics: Using advanced diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical or electrical issues.

• Maintenance & Repair:

  Performing routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks) and repairing broken parts (brakes, suspension, engine components).

• Testing: Test-driving vehicles and testing systems to ensure repairs are successful.

• Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of services, repairs, and parts used.

• Customer Service: Explaining technical issues and repair options clearly to clients.

• Safety: Adhering to safety standards and keeping the work area clean

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training from a vocational school is highly valued.

• Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and computerized diagnostic devices.

• Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking skills to diagnose complex issues.

• Communication: Effective communication skills for customer interaction.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in standing positions for extended periods.

• Comfort working with tools, oils, and lubricants in a workshop environment.
