This role involves executing precise mechanical repairs and routine maintenance tasks to ensure vehicle safety and performance standards are met. It requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and the ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced authorized service center environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine vehicle servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid level checks as per OEM guidelines.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues related to braking systems, suspension, and steering components.
- Execute basic electrical troubleshooting and battery health assessments using authorized diagnostic tools.
- Assist senior technicians in complex engine overhauls, gearbox repairs, and major assembly replacements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all repair work performed on job cards and within the Dealer Management System (DMS).
- Ensure the workshop area is clean and organized, following 5S principles and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and post-repair test drives to verify the quality of work performed.
- Identify additional repair requirements during inspection and report them to the Service Advisor for customer approval.
Requirements
- ITI (Motor Mechanic/Diesel Mechanic) or Diploma in Automobile/Mechanical Engineering.
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in an authorized automotive workshop or dealership.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and basic multi-brand diagnostic scanners.
- Valid Indian driving license for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
- Ability to understand and follow technical manuals and service bulletins in English or the local language.
- Physical stamina to work in a workshop environment for a standard 6-day week.
Preferred
- Prior experience working with BS6 engine technology and emission systems.
- OEM-specific technical certification from a recognized car or two-wheeler brand.
- Knowledge of wheel alignment, balancing, and tire changing equipment.
