Responsible for streamlining workshop operations by managing the efficient flow of vehicles through various service stages. This role focuses on optimizing technician productivity and ensuring that all repair work adheres to strict quality and safety standards while meeting promised delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign job cards to technicians based on their specific skill levels and current workload to ensure optimal bay utilization.
- Monitor the real-time progress of all vehicles on the shop floor and intervene to resolve any technical or logistical bottlenecks.
- Coordinate closely with the Spare Parts department to ensure the timely availability of required components for ongoing repairs.
- Conduct thorough quality inspections and road tests post-repair to ensure all customer complaints are addressed as per OEM standards.
- Maintain high standards of workshop discipline, including adherence to 5S practices and safety protocols.
- Update the Dealer Management System (DMS) accurately with job statuses, technician clocking times, and additional work requirements.
- Liaise between Service Advisors and the technical team to provide accurate updates on vehicle readiness or required additional repairs.
- Supervise the washing and final detailing process to ensure vehicles are delivered in pristine condition.
Requirements
- ITI or Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in an authorized automotive workshop environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of vehicle mechanical systems and diagnostic procedures.
- Proven ability to manage a team of technicians in a high-pressure environment.
- Valid four-wheeler driving license and proficiency in vehicle testing.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on process efficiency.
Preferred
- Experience working with OEM Dealer Management Systems (DMS) like Autoline, SAP, or specific brand software.
- Prior certification as a Master Technician or Team Leader from a reputed car manufacturer.
- Knowledge of local language to effectively communicate with the technical workforce.
