Responsible for diagnosing and repairing high-voltage electrical systems, battery management systems, and electric drivetrains within a specialized automotive workshop. This role ensures the peak performance and safety of electric vehicles while maintaining strict adherence to OEM guidelines and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex diagnostics and repairs on high-voltage (HV) battery systems and electric motors.
- Conduct routine maintenance and software updates on EV control modules and Battery Management Systems (BMS).
- Troubleshoot thermal management systems including cooling circuits and HVAC components specific to EVs.
- Interpret wiring diagrams and use advanced diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters to identify electrical faults.
- Ensure strict compliance with high-voltage safety standards and use specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Document all repair procedures and parts used within the Dealer Management System (DMS) for warranty and service records.
- Mentor junior technicians on EV-specific safety protocols and technical troubleshooting techniques.
- Collaborate with the Workshop Manager to improve turnaround time (TAT) for EV-specific service complaints.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive repair with at least 2 years dedicated to Electric Vehicles.
- Deep understanding of high-voltage systems, DC-DC converters, and onboard chargers.
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic software and OEM-specific scan tools.
- Proven track record of working with lithium-ion battery packs and cell balancing procedures.
- Knowledge of Indian automotive safety standards and EV regulations (AIS-156).
- Ability to work in a high-pressure workshop environment with strict deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience working with leading Indian EV brands or high-end electric vehicle segments.
- Specialized training in motor winding or power electronics.
- Valid four-wheeler driving license for conducting post-repair test drives.
