This role involves overseeing the daily operations of the service workshop to ensure seamless execution of mechanical and electrical repairs. It focuses on maintaining stringent quality standards while mentoring junior technicians to improve overall workshop productivity and technical accuracy. The position acts as a critical bridge between service advisors and the technical team to ensure customer vehicles are delivered on time and within OEM specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the workshop floor to ensure all vehicles are serviced according to OEM guidelines and safety protocols.
- Perform final quality inspections on repaired vehicles to minimize repeat complaints and ensure total roadworthiness.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on troubleshooting support for complex mechanical and electrical issues that junior technicians cannot resolve.
- Monitor technician productivity and allocate jobs based on skill levels to optimize workshop turnaround time (TAT).
- Coordinate with the spare parts department to ensure timely availability of components required for ongoing repairs.
- Conduct on-the-job training for junior technicians and apprentices to upgrade their technical competencies and tool usage.
- Maintain workshop equipment and diagnostic tools in peak condition through regular calibration and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure the workshop environment adheres to 5S standards and all environmental compliance regulations regarding waste disposal.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an authorized automotive service center.
- In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines, transmissions, and modern electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic scanners and Dealer Management Systems (DMS) like Autoline or SAP.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate a team of 10-15 technicians in a high-pressure environment.
- Valid Indian driving license for the relevant vehicle category (LMV/HMV/Two-Wheeler).
- Willingness to work 6 days a week in a shop-floor environment.
Preferred
- Previous experience working with a Tier-1 OEM (e.g., Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, or Mahindra).
- Certification in advanced diagnostic techniques or Electric Vehicle (EV) powertrain systems.
- Experience in implementing lean workshop management principles to reduce wastage.

Qualifications
Education: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering; ITI candidates with exceptional experience may be considered.
Experience: 3 to 5 years in automotive service operations with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
Certifications: OEM Level 2/3 Technical Certification, ASDDC (Automotive Skills Development Council) Certification preferred
Work Environment
On-site workshop location; standard 6-day work week (9 AM - 6 PM); requires active movement across the shop floor.
Growth Opportunities
Successful candidates can progress to Workshop Manager or Service Manager roles within the dealership group or move into Technical Training and Field Service Engineer positions at the OEM level.
