This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the workshop floor to ensure maximum productivity and adherence to OEM quality standards. It focuses on optimizing technician efficiency, maintaining safety protocols, and ensuring timely vehicle delivery to enhance customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily workshop operations and allocate jobs to technicians based on their specific skill levels and workload.
- Monitor vehicle throughput continuously to ensure adherence to the promised delivery time (PT) provided to customers.
- Enforce strict 5S standards and workshop safety protocols to maintain a clean and hazard-free working environment.
- Conduct final quality inspections on repaired vehicles to minimize repeat complaints and ensure high service quality.
- Coordinate closely with the Spare Parts department and Service Advisors to ensure parts availability and smooth workflow.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians for troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues.
- Manage workshop equipment and special tools, ensuring they are calibrated and maintained in good working condition.
- Track and report daily technician productivity, bay utilization, and overall workshop efficiency to the Service Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in automotive service operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- In-depth technical knowledge of modern vehicle systems, including BS6 engines and electronic diagnostics.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate a large team of technicians and support staff.
- Proficiency in using Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of OEM service processes, warranty guidelines, and workshop SOPs.
- Valid four-wheeler driving license and clean driving record.
Preferred
- Prior experience working with a leading passenger car or commercial vehicle OEM dealership.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen principles within a workshop environment.
- Hands-on experience with advanced diagnostic tools and scanners.

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering; or Diploma in Automobile Engineering.

Certifications: OEM Certified Technician or Team Leader, Health and Safety (HSE) Certification
Work Environment
Standard workshop environment, 6 days a week, on-site. Requires physical presence on the shop floor for the duration of the shift.
