Quality controller floor supervisor

This role is responsible for overseeing the technical excellence and operational flow of the workshop floor. It involves ensuring every vehicle serviced meets stringent OEM quality standards while managing a team of technicians to optimize turnaround time and minimize repeat repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct final inspections and mandatory road tests for all vehicles to ensure all customer complaints are addressed.
• Supervise floor technicians and provide expert technical guidance on complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic repairs.
• Monitor Workshop Loading (WLO) and bay productivity to ensure vehicles are delivered within the promised time (PTD).
• Audit job cards and technical reports for accuracy and completeness before vehicle handover to the Service Advisor.
• Enforce 100% compliance with OEM service standards, safety protocols, and 5S workplace management practices.
• Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure timely availability of components for ongoing repairs.
• Manage workshop equipment maintenance and ensure proper usage of specialized diagnostic tools by the technical team.
• Identify training needs for technicians and conduct on-the-job training to improve overall workshop competency.

Requirements

• Diploma or B.E. in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in an authorized automotive workshop environment.
• Valid Indian four-wheeler driving license with a clean driving record for road testing.
• Proficiency in using Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and diagnostic scanning tools.
• In-depth knowledge of BS-VI engine technology, transmission systems, and automotive electricals.
• Strong understanding of workshop floor management and labor productivity metrics.

Preferred

• OEM-specific technical certifications (e.g., Master Technician or Gold Level).
• Experience in managing large teams of 15+ technicians.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles in a service context.

Qualifications

Education: Diploma/B.E. in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering; ITI with significant experience may be considered.

Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in automotive service operations.

Certifications: OEM Technical Certification, Safety Management Certification, Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certification process knowledge

Work Environment

Standard 6-day work week on-site at a high-volume authorized workshop. Includes exposure to workshop noise and mechanical environments. Standard shift is 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Growth Opportunities

Candidates can progress to Workshop Manager or Service Manager roles, or transition into OEM-level technical training and field service engineering positions.
