This role involves overseeing the daily operations of the workshop floor to ensure maximum productivity and service quality. It focuses on coordinating workflow between the service desk and technicians to meet vehicle delivery timelines while maintaining strict adherence to safety and OEM standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Distribute job cards to technicians based on their skill sets and the complexity of the repair work.
- Monitor the progress of all vehicles on the shop floor to ensure Turnaround Time (TAT) targets are met.
- Conduct final quality checks and road tests to ensure all reported issues are resolved and no new issues are created.
- Supervise the usage of workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and consumables to minimize waste and damage.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior technicians and helpers for complex repairs.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization on the floor following 5S principles.
- Coordinate with the spare parts department to ensure timely availability of components for ongoing jobs.
- Ensure all technicians strictly follow safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an authorized automotive workshop environment.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems of modern vehicles.
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of 10-15 technicians.
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities in a high-pressure environment.
- Valid four-wheeler driving license for conducting vehicle road tests.
Preferred
- Prior experience working with a major OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) brand.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies in a workshop setting.
- Advanced certification in Engine or Transmission diagnostics.
