This role involves overseeing the entire collision repair department to ensure high-quality restorative work and efficient throughput. The focus is on managing insurance surveyor relationships, optimizing workshop productivity, and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction through transparent communication and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end bodyshop operations including denting, painting, and structural repair processes.
- Liaise with insurance companies and surveyors to expedite claim approvals and ensure fair settlements.
- Monitor and improve technician productivity and paint booth efficiency to meet monthly revenue targets.
- Ensure all repairs comply with OEM standards and safety protocols through regular quality audits.
- Handle complex customer escalations related to accidental repairs and insurance claim disputes.
- Optimize inventory levels for bodyshop-specific spare parts and consumables to minimize Work in Progress (WIP) time.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on bodyshop profitability, labor sales, and material consumption for senior management.
- Lead and mentor a team of denter-painters, estimators, and floor supervisors to maintain a high performance culture.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in managing bodyshop operations within an authorized automotive dealership.
- Deep understanding of insurance claim processes, cashless tie-ups, and surveyor negotiation.
- Proficiency in using Dealer Management Systems (DMS) for job card management and billing.
- Technical knowledge of paint chemistry, mixing, and modern collision repair equipment.
- Proven track record of meeting monthly labor and parts revenue targets.
- Strong leadership skills to manage a diverse workforce of technicians and staff.
Preferred
- Experience working with premium or luxury automotive brands.
- Specific certification in professional estimation or insurance surveying.
- Familiarity with lean workshop management principles.
